Daewoo Engineering & Construction signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Loxley Group in Thailand on July 26 for the joint development of the nation’s environmental business.

The latest MOU is an agreement to develop follow-up businesses of Thailand’s wastewater treatment master plan establishment project after South Korea's Ministry of Environment (MOE) signed a MOU for environmental cooperation with Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in June.

Thailand’s water treatment project preferred bidder, Loxley Group, Korea’s Daewoo E&C, Dongbu Engineering and Kyongdong Engineering will take part in a consortium.

Daewoo E&C has been involving in Thailand’s wastewater management master plan project, which is financially supported by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute under the MOE in order to help Korean companies to enter the global environmental market, along with Dongbu Engineering and Kyongdong Engineering, from April.

Loxley Group, which has 30 subsidiaries in the construction, environment, communications and trade sectors, has established and operated water purification plants and thermal power plants at home and abroad. The group worked together with Daewoo E&C in 1994 to construct Houay Ho Dam in Laos.

With the latest MOU, Daewoo E&C plans to strengthen the cooperation with Loxley Group in the environmental sector, such as sewage treatment facility, water treatment facility, reuse facility and incineration facility, and establish a foothold to tap into the Thai environmental market by making use of the group’s business experience and local networks in the nation in the future.
