SK Holdings C&C unveiled its new smart factory solution brand “Scala” on July 18, announcing that it will make full-fledged efforts to run a business combining ICT and manufacturing sectors.

Scala is named after a Latin word meaning “stairs.” It represents going beyond the automation of a factory, deriving the evolution of the manufacturing industry through the intellectualization of a factory.

The company said, “The brand Scala shows our willingness to integrate new ICT convergence technologies including IoT, big data, cloud, and artificial intelligence, to support digital innovations for factories and realize a smart factory.

Based on Scala, SK Holdings C&C has installed its smart factory solution in one of the printer production lines in Hon Hai Group’s factory in Chongqing, China.

Scala is composed of the followings: simulation which allows the inspection of production lines in cyberspace; smart factory platform supporting the organic connection of factory systems and equipment; AI-based big data analysis; and smart control controlling production lines.
