Samsung Electronics will take the wrap off the Galaxy Note 7 with improved S Pen and stronger security based on iris recognition in New York on August 2. On July 13, the Korean tech giant sent leading global media, partners and developers invitation letters for the event.      According to the letters, the Galaxy Note 7 will be unveiled in New York at 11 am on August 2 in New York, the US.

Similar events will be held in London and Rio De Janeiro at the same time, too. Samsung Electronics had disclosed the Galaxy Note series in the IFA held in every September. But since last year, they have changed the venue to New York and moved up the disclosure time to the first week or the middle of August.

This is because Samsung intends to preoccupy the market before the release of new iPhone models in September. The early launch of the Galaxy S7 allowed Samsung Electronics to gain an early edge. So Samsung Electronics is anticipating another success by advancing the time to early August.

The invitation card implies an iris recognition feature of the new Galaxy Note with an eye-shaped circle and a pen.  It is said that a user takes a look at the front camera of the smartphone like taking selfies, the iris scanner recognizes the iris and identifies the user,

Earlier, Samsung Electronics loaded the Galaxy Tab Iris for the Indian market with the iris recognition function. But the Galaxy Note 7 will mark the first time that a Samsung smartphone will feature the advanced recognition function. When launching the Galaxy Tab Iris in India, Samsung Electronics announced that the combination of the iris recognition technology and various applications will enable people to apply for passports, pay tax, use health care service and receive education and use other e-government services more conveniently and faster.

It is forecast that if the iris recognition technology is fully applied to the Galaxy Note 7, its application will expand into more various service beyond Samsung Pay, the mobile payment service of Samsung Electronics. In particular, according to an analysis by Samsung Electronics, the iris recognition technology can create synergies when it mixes well with Knox, a security technology that the company is working on. Then the technology will be utilized not only for financial transactions between general consumers but for B2B trades.
