According to industry sources, SK Innovation’s operating profit for the second quarter and the first half of this year are estimated at 860 billion won and 1.7 trillion won, respectively. The company posted 1.3018 trillion won in operating profit in the first half of last year.

LG Chem’s operating profit for the first half, in the meantime, is likely to have exceeded one trillion won for the first time in five years. Specifically, it recorded an operating profit of 457.7 billion won in the first quarter and that for the second quarter is estimated at 568 billion won. These days, its petrochemical division’s profit is soaring to more than offset a decline in the profits of the other business units including information electronic materials and battery.

Lotte Chemical’s operating profit for the first quarter totaled 473.6 billion won and the amount is likely to have increased to 553 billion won in the following quarter. This increase has been led by its aromatics business unit and subsidiary Lotte Chemical Titan located in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Likewise, S-Oil is expected to have topped one trillion won in operating profit, for the first time since 2008, in the first half of this year. The figure for the first quarter was 491.8 billion won and that for the following quarter is estimated at between 428.7 billion won and 510 billion won.
