Kwon Oh-hyun, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics met Li Dongsheng, chairman of  TCL Group, the largest home electronics manufacturer in China and discussed business cooperation between the two companies. Vice chairman Kwon had a luncheon with chairman Li for two hours who visited Samsung Seocho Building in Seoul on July 6. As vice chairman Kwon is also the CEO of Samsung Display, Kwon met Li as a visitor from one of Samsung Display’s corporate customers.

The TCL Group has the third largest display company CSOT in China as an affiliate. Its TV shipment volume rank first in China and third in the world. Its annual total sales hit 18 trillion won (US$15.6 billion). CSOT began to build the world’s largest 11th-generation LCD production lines in Shenzhen, China and will roll out LCDs from the lines in 2018.

It was known that the two companies discussed business partnership including LCD panels on the day. Some speculated that their meeting dealt with selling Samsung Display’s seventh generation LCD panel production line which produces 40-inch LCD panels to the TCL Group as they expect that the line will stop within this year.

On the other hand, it was also known that chairman Li did not have a meeting with LG Display, a rival of Samsung Display since Li did not have any business relation with LG Display.
