The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on July 4 that it has selected “CREATIVE KOREA” as the Republic of Korea’s new nation brand, explaining the new brand came in by integrating core values contained in what Korean people think of as tradition and modernity, tangible and intangible assets.

Nation brand refers to an image coming from combining tangible and intangible values including levels of recognition, preference, and credibility for a country, and South Korea has used the slogan of “Dynamic Korea” as its nation brand, which sprang up when the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup took place.

From now on, “CREATIVE KOREA,” instead of Dynamic Korea, will be used as the official nation brand, and the current tourism brand “Imagine Your Korea” will be replaced with the new nation brand, too.

Minister Kim Jong-deok explained that the new CREATIVE KOREA has its significance in rediscovering a value of the creativity imprinted in the DNA of Korean people, enhancing their pride, and heightening the image of the Republic of Korea in the world.
