The second “China·Korea·Japan Industrial Expo” is to be held in Weifang City, Shandong Province, China, for 3 days from Sep. 23 to 25.

This event, jointly sponsored by Korea International Trade Association (KITA), China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) under the theme of “open cooperation and win-win,” is already attracting attention from Chinese corporations as well as those from South Korea and Japan. A total of 2,120 companies from those three countries applied to the event this year and 579 of them were finally selected. In particular, Korean and Japanese companies showed a lot of interest in the event as shown in the number of participants. 332 companies from those two countries were selected, accounting for more than 50% of all the participants in the expo. During the event, 1,066 out of the total 1,886 booths will be provided to foreign enterprises.

It is very unusual for an international expo that the event in Weifang attracted international participants more than 50% of the total, considering the average foreign participation rate remains around 20% in general. Businesses from China, the host country, had to yield more than half of the exhibition space to foreign companies in the upcoming event among the three North Eastern countries.

27 of the top 500 global enterprises are to participate in the event and nine of them are Japanese corporations. With a participation of about 20,000 buyers and businessmen expected at the event, Weifang City aims at attracting investments worth a total of 37.66 billion yuan from 47 projects with 116 companies, by presenting the regional representative products particularly in machinery, modern agriculture and high tech industries. Among the total investment amount, foreign capital reaches 32.17 billion yuan. The total international trade amounts to 7.16 billion yuan.

During the expo period, Weifang City will open temporary airlines connecting the city to Incheon in South Korea, and Osaka in Japan.

The exhibition, a part of the expo, is composed of the total five fairs; the Intelligent Manufacturing Information Technology Exhibition Fair, the Energy Conservation and Environment Protection and New Energy Exhibition Fair, the Modern Agriculture and Food Safety Exhibition Fair, the Health & Old-age Care and Beauty Care Industry Exhibition Fair, and the Cultural Creative Exhibition Fair. Above all, a greater emphasis will be placed on the Intelligent Manufacturing Information Technology Exhibition, which will allow visitors to glance at developments of the advanced high-tech industry through the exhibited products from the three countries.

Conferences are also held including high-level forums and general seminars. The high level forums include the Economic and Trade Cooperation and Development Forum among China, South Korea and Japan, the Silver Industry Forum of China·Korea·Japan, the Roundtable Conference of the Chambers of Commerce of China·Korea·Japan, and the East Asia Trade and Investment Facilitation Forum. Through such forums and conferences, the ways to forge an efficient economic trade cooperation system and strengthen exchanges among the three countries will be discussed. In addition, arrangements of one-to-one business matchmaking meetings, press conferences for businessmen, and signing ceremonies of major projects will also be made.
