With the recent “World's First Invisible Tower” report by CNN generating more interest on skyscrapers, high-rise hotels are drawing attention as well.
What is the tallest hotel in the world where people can view the whole city from their room?
On September 21, the hotel search and information website trivago (www.trivago.co.kr) announced the world's top ten tallest hotels. The tallest hotel is Park Hyatt Shanghai situated on floors 79 to 93 of the 494m high Shanghai World Financial Center. It has 170 guest rooms, 8 restaurants, and the Water's Edge Spa swimming pool on the 85th floor overlooking Shanghai's Huangpu River and Pudong skyline.
Five 5-star hotels in Chinese-speaking territories, including the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong, the St. Regis Shenzhen, Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou, and the Grand Hyatt Shanghai are located in buildings over 400m high. Those in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates are the next tallest hotels.
Different from Chinese hotels situated on higher floors of the building, the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is spread across two 77-floor twin towers standing at 355m. Four hotels in Dubai, including the Burj Al Arab, known as “the only seven star hotel in the world,” occupy top 10 ranking positions.
In sum, hotels in Chinese-speaking areas and Dubai dominate the category of the top ten tallest hotels in the world.
