Seoul Viosys’ UV LED-programmed mosquito trap called Mosclean to be unveiled at CE Week in the U.S.

Seoul Viosys Co., an affiliate of Seoul Semiconductor Co., is exhibiting its new UV LED-programmed mosquito trap called Mosclean at the Consumer Electronics (CE) Week being held from June 22 in New York, the U.S.

The company announced on the 21st that it will display Mosclean using the state-of-the-art UV LED technology called "violeds” at the CE Week NY which is participated in by numerous global high-tech IT companies. Violeds are used to clean and sterilize the NASA space station.

Mosclean can capture and kill up to 13 times the amount of mosquitos than any other mosquito traps created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Especially in the case of Aedes aegypti mosquitos, which is known to be carriers of the Zika virus, and anopheles mosquitos, which transmit malaria, the Mosclean mosquito trap has proven to be 13 times and 9 times more effective, respectively.

Unlike existing chemical pesticides and mercurial UV light mosquito traps, Mosclean attracts mosquitos using the UV LED technology. Accordingly, it does not pose harmful effects on the human body and the environment. The product can also be used semipermanently.
