Hanwha Techwin, aviation and defense manufacturing unit of Hanwha Group, announced on June 15 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with U.S.-based General Electronics Company (GE) Oil & Gas, a global leading energy equipment producer, during the ASME TURBO EXPO 2016 held at the COEX in Seoul to collaborate on producing industrial gas turbine and compressor packages.

Under the agreement, the two companies will actively cooperate in gas turbine and compressor package projects in the Asia-Pacific region in the future.

Hanwha Techwin will receive key energy equipment components such as gas turbine and compressors from GE Oil & Gas, and produce gas turbine generator and compressor packages that are used to produce and boost electricity.

Meanwhile, the Korean manufacturer also inked an agreement with GE Oil & Gas in Italy to secure sales rights on NovaL T5 series, gas turbines for small-sized electric generators, in February this year. The 5.6-megawatt NovaL T5 series will be officially released in the second half of the year and be mostly used as small-sized electric power generation systems, including distributed generation.

An official from Hanwha Techwin said, “The latest MOU came through as GE acknowledged Hanwha Techwin’s achievements and production capability that the company accumulated in the energy equipment market over the past 20 years.”
