Ssangyong Motor Co. announced on June 13 that it held a ceremony to celebrate the Tivoli achieving 100,000 units of production.
The Tivoli, which was launched in January, ranked first in terms of sales in the sport utility vehicle (SUV) market. The brand passed 100,000 mark in 17 months, nine months earlier than the previous record for the shortest period.
The Tivoli produced 64,781 units last year and 33,341 units this year until May. Its total production stood at 97,796 units as of May, and surpassed 100,000 units on the 13th.
An official from Ssangyong Motor said, “The Tivoli sold 7,545 units in the global market in May, boosted by the release of the Tivoli Air. Its cumulative global sales grew 55.9 percent, while its domestic sales and exports increased 49 percent and 71 percent, respectively.”
This is largely due to the fact that the Tivoli has differentiated design and reasonable prices as well as practicality and economic efficiency. It is the only compact SUV model which has the four-wheel drive system. In addition, the Tivoli has secured a broader consumer base by launching derivative models, according to Ssangyong Motor.
