Korea South-East Power Co. (KOEN) won Gold, Excellence and Special Prize at the Invention and New Product Exposition (INPEX) 2016 held in Pittsburgh, the U.S., from June 7 to 9.

The INPEX is one of the world’s top three international invention exhibitions, along with the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva in Switzerland and the iENA Nuremberg international trade fair in Germany. The INPEX 2016 featured a total of 357 inventions from 21 countries.

KOEN submitted two inventions – a wireless network-based boiler tube temperature and corrosion monitoring system and plant health index (PHI) – to the exhibition. Its wireless network-based boiler tube temperature and corrosion monitoring system won Gold Prize for the engineering part and Excellence Prize in the INPEX 2016. Its PHI also received Excellence Prize of the INPEX 2016 and Special Prize of Taiwan Invention Association.

The wireless network-based boiler tube temperature and corrosion monitoring system senses the temperature of tubes according to heat flux and resistance changes and analyzes and monitors the corrosion levels.

The PHI is an early warning technology which automatically learns the previous operating conditions of power plants, compares them with the current operation data in real time and predict the conditions of power plants.
