Gwangju Metropolitan City held a second civil committee meeting on June 8 in preparation for the 7th Asia-Europe Culture Ministers' Meeting (ASEM CMM7) in 2016.
At the meeting, members of the committee were debriefed on preparations so far and they asked to make thorough preparation in every sector based on the successful hosting of the 2015 Gwangju Summer U-Competition. They also agreed to aggressively promote the event in order to expand civic participation and social consensus.
Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gwangju Metropolitan City, the ASEM CMM7 on Culture and Creative Economy will be held at the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju Metropolitan City, Korea, from June 22 to 24. The public forum will be participated in by 600 visitors, including Culture Ministers of 53 countries in Asia and Europe and reporters.
In this regard, Gwangju City plans to match delegates one to another with members of Gwangju International Friendship Association, who served as the cornerstone of the success hosting of the 2015 Gwangju Summer U-Competition, in a bid to make them want to revisit to Gwangju.
The city will hold a reception dinner at Gwangju Cultural Foundation Traditional Culture Center in where the visitors can enjoy representative food in South Jeolla Province cooked by food directors, along with cultural performance. Also, it will provide them with South Jeolla Province cultural exploration programs.
