Toray Chemical Korea announced on June 1 that it succeeded in developing eco-friendly micro-scale hollow fibers which has a soft texture and a tendency to restore its original shape.

Toray Chemical Korea’s micro-scale hollow fiber is made by combining two types of polyester polymers and has a spiral shaped fiber structure, or three-dimensional crimp, making it possible to enclose more air to retain heat better.

Since the special fiber has air layers in hollows, it has a bulkiness, ability to maintain heat and cushiness. It is also soft and light in weight that it can be widely used to make fillers for various products from winter outdoor sports jackets to beddings such as cushions, pillows and comforters.

With a special coating finish, the fabrics well withstands wear and tear, and entangles less when machine-washed. It is also considered eco-friendly as it is possible to recycle the products made of the special fiber back as raw materials.
