The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) hosted the foreign correspondents’ luncheon in the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul on May 31, introducing its new national FDI promotion slogan “Global Link to Success.”

Invest KOREA (IK), the foreign investment promotion arm of KOTRA, explained that the slogan represents Korea as a place full of limitless potential, opportunity and competitiveness. The slogan also highlights Korea as a country that provides investment synergy and a link towards the greater world. Furthermore, it emphasizes Korea as an ideal investment destination where foreign investors can gain a strong foothold when entering the global stage.

Kim Yong Kook, head of Invest KOREA said, “The national FDI slogan project was pursued in response to a growing demand for a national slogan that can highlight Korea’s unique advantages for foreign investment and instantly associate Korea as an appropriate investment destination. The slogan also contains Korea’s determination to more actively promote quality investment including high added-value industry as Korea’s FDI surpassed US$ 20 billion for the first time this year.”

What is special about the slogan is that it allows various government ministries, local governments, Free Economic Zones and other industries to freely make use of the slogan to cater to their own vision.

The head of IK also touched upon the advantages of Korea’s investment environment as well as its recent investment trends. In addition, Dr. Kim In-cheol, the Foreign Investment Ombudsman, presented on Korea’s highly revered Foreign Investment Ombudsman System. Meanwhile, Director General Lee Sang-jin from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy talked about the policy direction for foreign investment in 2016. Solvay Korea shared its successful investment for a R&D center, and the Korean Institute for Industrial Economics &

Trade provided a briefing on the prospects and key issues of the Korean economy this year.

Since the inception of Invest Korea in 2003, KOTRA has been engaged in various investment promotion activities such as the expansion of investment research projects, the opening of Invest Korea Plaza (IKP) as a foreign investor incubating facility, extensive administrative support for foreign investors through Administrative Support Center, and grievance settlement for foreign-invested companies.
