On May 10, SK Group chairman Choi Tae-won met with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah in Seoul. At their meeting, they discussed how to cooperate with each other in the fields including energy, chemical, alternative energy and infrastructure construction.

“The SK Group has worked with a number of Kuwaiti organizations such as the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and it is seeking ways to continue with such cooperation in a practical way,” said the chairman of the group.

After the talks with the prime minister, the top management of the group including chairman Choi Tae-won met with Kuwaiti Minister of Oil and KPC CEO Anas al-Saleh to discuss specific ways of mutual cooperation. On May 9, the SK Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the KPC for collaborations in the petroleum, gas and energy industries. The KPC is a fully-owned enterprise of the government of Kuwait and is the eighth-largest oil company in the world.

The SK Group’s large-scale economic mission accompanied South Korean President Park Geun-hye during her state visit to Iran earlier this month, too. At that time, the mission focused on cooperation in the three fields of energy & natural resources, information & communications technology and urban infrastructure construction.
