Korea Western Power Co., or KOWEPO, held “KOWEPO Technical Cooperation Seminar with EPRI Expert” at the conventional hall of the headquarters in Taean, South Chungcheong Province, for two days from April 19 to 20. The seminar was attended by 70 experts at home and abroad in the power plant combustion and performance management sector, including KOWEPO and Korea Electronic Power Corp., or KEPCO.

The U.S.-based Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is a not-for-profit research consortium established in 1913 to develop power industry technologies. It provides services to more than 1000 energy-related organizations in 40 countries around the world.

The seminar consisted of two sessions – the power plant combustion management and performance management. Starting with the keynote presentation by ETRI program managers, discussion and Q&A between experts in the sector were included.

At the technical cooperation seminar, they shared cases of the power plant performance improvement, such as fuel combustion optimization technology and main equipment heat-transfer performance improvement technology. Also, experts had a vigorous debate on technological alternatives.
