New iPhone in Korea

Apple will unveil its newest iPhone at its headquarters at Cupertino, California on September 10 (local time) to compete with Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note 3 and LG Electronics G2.

The new iPhone is expected to come with a four-inch display panel and a 1,440mAh battery, both of which are smaller than those of the Galaxy Note 3 and the G2. However, the iPhone 5S is expected to be as slim as 7.6mm and as light as 112g, making it the most convenient one of them all in terms of portability.

The iPhone 5S is also predicted to come with LTE only, whereas the other two models support LTE Advanced. This is because LTE-A networks have yet to be set up in many markets and countries are using different frequency bands. Under the circumstances, it is expected that many Korean customers, who tend to focus on data communications speed, will opt for the Galaxy Note 3 or the G2 instead of the new iPhone.

There is no telling if Korea will be included in the list of countries where Apple will first supply the new iPhone. Any handset sold in Korea has to win the approval of the National Radio Research Agency. However, the iPhone 5S has not been found on the most recently updated list yet.
