7.4% Growth in Europe

On April 6, Kia Motors announced that its sales in March at home and abroad reached a total of 268,007 units, down 0.6 percent from the same month of last year. The figure comprises exports and domestic sales of passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles as well as local sales of vehicles produced at overseas plants.

In March, Kia saw its sales increase by 9.4 percent in the domestic market with 50,510 units and 9.4 percent in Europe with 63,826 units.

For the first three months this year, Kia’s global sales totaled 686,887 units, a 0.6 percent drop from a year earlier. 128,125 units sold in Korea, 145,488 units in Europe and 160,286 units in North America, which represent 11.9%, 7.9% and 3.0% rise each.

Kia's best-selling model in overseas markets in the month was Sportage compact CUV which sold 43,304 units. The B-segment Rio, which is known as K2 in China, was the second best seller with sales of 33,524 units, followed by the C-segment Cerato known as 'Forte' or ‘K3’ in some markets, Optima D-segment sedan and Soul urban crossover, which sold 30,591, 21,391 and 16,562 units, respectively.
