The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) on March 28 launched its official account on Instagram, a global mobile platform for photo-sharing, video-sharing, and social networking.

The PyeongChang 2018 Instagram channel will provide contents in English and Korean, aiming to share images and videos that will highlight the various fun aspects of PyeongChang 2018 and Ganthe host region, bringing the PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games closer to winter sports fans and followers.

“We are very excited to launch the official Instagram account which will boost our online communication.  It will be a powerful tool that enables us to interact with a broader and younger audience around the world.  We will make it a fun and informative channel that can build a positive momentum towards the PyeongChang 2018 Games,” said Shin Mu-chol, POCOG Director General of Communications.

To celebrate the new service, POCOG is holding a “Leave Your Comments” event until April 6, encouraging Instagram followers to share and promote the PyeongChang 2018 Instagram account.

Currently, Instagram has users more than 500 million globally and 5 million in Korea, showing the highest level of active user participation than any other social media platform.
