Vice Unification Minister Hwang Boo-gi met reportedly with Alexander Timonin, Russian Ambassador to South Korea on March 23 to discuss a resumption of the trilateral logistics project involving the two Koreas and Russia.

The project had been suspended by South Korea as part of its sanctions against North Korea’s nuclear and missile provocations early this month.

The Russian ambassador was known to say "maybe," when asked about a possibility of discussing the project before the meeting with vice minister Hwang at South Korea’s unification ministry. Timonin tried reportedly to confirm the Korean government’s position on the date to resume the project at the meeting.

The logistics project called “Rajin-Khasan project” was intended for the shipment of Russian coal into South Korea through the North Korean port city of Rajin. Seoul’s sanctions against Pyongyang include a ban on the entry of vessels into South Korea, which have sailed to North Korea in the past 180 days.
