The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Visit Korea Committee announced on March 20 that K-Travel Bus, a free bus travel package for foreign tourists, will officially begin operations at Gwanghwamun in downtown Seoul on 25th.

K-Travel Bus is a free bus travel package between Seoul and local provinces exclusively for foreign tourists, and is designed to help them experience tourist attractions in local areas in a bid to celebrate the beginning of “2016-2018 Visit Korea Year.”

The MCST said the service will go to six regions, including Daegu City, Gangwon Province, South Jeolla Province, and the southeastern area (Busan City, Ulsan City and South Gyeongsang Province) as well as this year's tourism picks Tongyoung, Jecheon and Muju.

The ministry will hold a ceremony in front of DongHwa Duty Free in Gwanghwamun, Seoul on the 25th, from where the bus will leave. Actor Jung Il-woo, who was designated as an honorary ambassador for the program, and 60 foreigners, who have applied for this experience through social media, will take part. After the ceremony, these foreigners will travel to major tourist attractions in the six regions for two days.

Foreign tourists, who want to use the service, can make reservations at its official website www.k-travelbus.com. The K-Travel Bus will operate once a week, and at least four participants are required for the bus to run.

The service costs around US$170 (198,300 won), covering transportation, lodging, an English-speaking guide and admission fees.
