LG Electronics’ new strategic smartphone “G5” was chosen as the best smartphone in a survey conducted by the leading online media in the U.S., beating Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S7.

 Phone Arena, the premium website for new IT information in the U.S., announced on Feb. 28 that it conducted a survey on the best product among smartphones that were unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry that ended on the 25th, and the LG G5 secured 1,135 votes, or 38.29 percent, ranked on the top spot.

 The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge won 919 votes, or 31.01 percent, defeated by a margin of about 200 votes.

 In regard to Samsung’s Galaxy S7 series, Phone Arena said, “They have made a small but meaningful and important progress.” For the G5, it said, “It the attraction of the full metal body and spirit of innovation.”

 Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi ranked third with its premium Mi 5 smartphone, which was released in a year and seven months since the previous model, winning 515 votes, or 17.4 percent.

 Japanese electronics major Sony, which showcased its new smartphone brand “Xperia X” series at the MWC 2016, came in fourth, receiving 216 votes, or 7.3 percent, which is less than half of the Xiaomi Mi5’s.
