There is a rumor that Samsung Electronics’ next-generation strategic smartphone “Galaxy S7” series will offer water resistance.

According to the report from GSMArena.com, an international IT information provider, on February 9 (local time), Samsung Galaxy S7 and its counterpart Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will come with a water-resistant capability.

The recent listings from India's import-export tracking website Zauba showed several "waterproof" components - including a SIM tray and a microphone. Given the quantities in the thousands or tens of thousands, they are highly likely to be the final components of the Galaxy S7.

Previously, the Samsung Galaxy S5 was water-resistant and dustproof at an IP67 rating, but the company chose to omit the features for the S6 generation. That only left Sony as the major manufacturer to offer waterproof and dustproof smartphones. Now, Samsung Electronics is expected to provide the waterproof and dustproof features from the Galaxy S7 again.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese site Review Dao has uploaded an image claimed to be of the upcoming Galaxy S7 on the 8th (local time).

Unfortunately, the image shows only the back of the device. However, it has a couple of notable tweaks. First is that the rear camera on the Galaxy 7 doesn’t protrude nearly as much as it does on the Galaxy S6. And then there are the sides of this phone’s rear, which are all curved. The device doesn’t use the glass back panel but maybe this is because it is the prototype.

According to the Vietnamese site, the Exynos chipset of the Galaxy S7 has 15 percent powerful CPU and GPU performance. The Hi-Fi DAC comes bundled with both Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets. The device will have similar battery life with the Galaxy Note 5 and the battery unit will be able to charge from zero percent to eighty percent within 30 minutes of plugging it in. When it comes to camera specification, the device will reportedly sport an aperture of f/1.7.

As it turns out, the Galaxy S7 series is expected to be unveiled in Vietnam on March 3 and the release is likely to take place on March 18. But then, in Europe and the U.S., the same series is expected to be released on March 11, a week earlier than Vietnam.
