The Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs and the Korean Food Foundation announced on January 28 that Madrid Fusion 2016, an international cuisine event in Madrid, Spain, was held in great success between Jan. 25 and 27.
This year, the two organizations participated in the event under the slogan of Bringing Ocean Vitality to Korean Cuisine, launching tasting and cooking demonstration sessions in which traditional sauces, seasonal food ingredients and seaweed are utilized. For reference, Korea took part in the Madrid Fusion as a principal guest in 2012 and with the theme of vegetable and fermentation in 2015.
The sessions were visited by more than 4,000 industry experts, journalists, chefs and the like. “The Korean food utilizing seaweed and sauces was very impressive and I think a number of Spanish people will like it once they taste it,” one of them mentioned, adding, “It is expected that Korean food, which is healthy yet tasty, will appeal to many European gourmets.”
The sessions were highly popular with the local media as well. 36 news outlets, including El Pais and El Mundo, visited them to show keen interest in Korean food and culinary culture.
