KT Corporation announced that it has signed a sponsorship agreement with Korea Luge Federation at KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Sejong-no, Seoul, on January 27. Under the agreement, KT will support the training of national luge players and their participation in international games until 2018. Luge is the fastest winter sport, which is in line with KT’s 5G network, a service touted as “100 times faster” than current fourth generation networks.
It involves sliding at high speeds on a single or two-person sled, on a special track of artificially frozen ice. To determine the winner of the competition, is displayed by the rider with the fastest time. Also, during a run, the sled can reach speeds of over 140 km per hour. Currently, there are a total of eight players and five coaches in the national team.
KT plans to provide financial support to Korea Luge Federation and help national players systematically manage their records and enhance their performance through its 5G network technology, which will be unveiled for the first time in the world at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics Games, in the future. Moreover, the company will offer vivid and thrilling Luge contents to customers.
Meanwhile, KT became the nation’s first official partner of The 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games in 2014, making efforts to successfully host the Winter Olympics and expand the base of winter sports.
