Dongwha Pharm Co. (Chairman Yoon Do-jun) has chosen Sohn Ji-hoon, former CEO at Baxter Korea, as its new president. He will take office from February 1 2016.

The new president Sohn Ji-hoon studied economics at Korea University and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Boston University in the U.S. Since then, he worked at the headquarters of Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), a multinational pharmaceutical company, in the U.S. HE also served as executive director of the overseas business division at Dong-A Pharmaceutical and CEO of Baxter Korea.

A spokesperson from Dongwha Pharm said, “Based on the deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, Sohn has shown his excellent management ability through his experiences in sales marketing, new overseas markets, new businesses and management. We, the nation’s longest lived pharmaceutical company, have been looking for someone who can pursue change and innovation, seek to achieve targets and sustainable growth, and stabilize the company. We believe that Sohn is the best man for the job.” 

With Sohn, who served as CEO in domestic and multinational companies, joining Dongwha Pharm, the company plans to focus on its balanced growth in the over-the-counter (OTC) and ethical drug (ETC) sectors, global market expansion and achievements in R&D.
