Korea Energy Agency (KEA) has sent out its new renewable energy market development team to the World Future Energy Summit 2016 (WFES 2016), which is taking place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), ran a Korea pavilion, and held business meetings with foreign buyers.
Held under the patronage of Crown Prince of the UAE and hosted by Masdar, the WFES is the largest annual event dedicated to new renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean technologies in the Middle East. Also, it is the 9th summit to be held this year.
At the event, which is taking place from Jan. 18 to 21, KEA is operating a Korea pavilion consisting of 18 booths along with 12 domestic firms including Daeyeong Metal Co. and JSPV Co., and displaying products of companies related to new renewable energy.
The opening ceremony of the WFES 2016 on Jan. 18 was attended by 3,700 influential figures from various circles around the world, including Ban Ki-moon, secretary-general of the United Nations; Kwon Hae-ryong, ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the UAE; and Han Seung-soo, former Prime Minister of Korea, who visited the Korea pavilion to make a tour and encourage Korean firms.
Under the partnership agreement between Korea and Abu Dhabi on renewable energy, which was signed in December 2009, Korea has been taking part in the event from the 3rd WFES.
