JP Brothers, a Seoul-based tech start-up, announced on Jan. 12 that its camera app “Candy Camera” surpassed 100 million downloads on Android.

Candy Camera, which started its service in Dec. 2013, has been growing with sensational popularity in the global markets, including Brazil, Turkey and Mexico, and reached 100 million downloads on Android in Jan. this year. When combining downloads on iOS devices, the app already exceeded 100 downloads in Dec. last year.

It currently has app users in 233 countries around the world and overseas users account for more than 90 percent of downloads. App users all over the world take about 32 million photos a day on average and 1 billion photos a month with Candy Camera. A user turns on Candy Camera app more than four times on a daily basis.

Users can take photos and edit them with just the touch of their screen. They can improve their skin with functions of blemish elimination and skin-lightening effects. Using filters, users can change the photo setting. The app also has various sticker functions which can decorate photos.

In addition, users can set camera modes, including shooting speed, shooting method and picture ratio.

As the app is growing, JP Brothers has steadily pursued the multidirectional localization strategy. The company regularly optimizes the app by country and offers trendy stickers in various languages, by using Big Data.

Gaining the recognition of its technology, Candy Camera has become the nation’s first Facebook partner company last year, and is providing editing filters to Samsung Electronics’ camera app through the partnership. JP Brothers is planning to grow Candy Camera into a global platform, which can use all services related to picture, through sustainable growth.
