Woori Bank announced that it held a ceremony marking the company’s 117th founding anniversary at the headquarters in Sogong-ro, Seoul, on Jan. 4, with 600 executives and employees in attendance.

The ceremony began with a video clip to look back the history of 117 years after the establishment of the bank in 1899 as the first Korean bank, followed by the opening remarks by President Lee Kwang-goo and congratulatory message by Union Leader Park Won-choon.

President Lee Kwang-goo said in his address, “In 2015, we led the fintech market, broke into overseas markets in a decisive manner, and brought good results in terms of profitability and soundness, with a half step ahead attitude. In order to win customers’ trust and love and jump into a total financial group through successful privatization, Let’s create a stronger Woori Bank in 2016 as well.”

In order to do so, he said that the bank will lead the financial industrial structure change and contribute to the national economy by securing the dominant position in the market, engaging in thorough sales, leading fintech creative businesses, expanding the global regions and using the best ability, which are the five business strategies.
