Hankook Tire, a leading global tire company, donated 1.1 billion won (US$939,769) to the Community Chest of Korea (CCK) on Dec. 23 as part of its “Sharing Hope Campaign 2016” to support the underprivileged.

From 2003, the company has been joining the sharing hope campaign led by the CCK every year to continuously fund those in need, such as beneficiaries of national basic livelihood, the disabled and the elderly living alone. Donations will be used to help women in need get their drivers’ licenses and independence, and to produce traffic safety maps for children.

Hankook Tire does its social contribution activities under the slogan of “driving towards happiness,” which reflects its core business character “mobility,” leading the initiative in corporate social responsibility (CSR). As part of this representative CSR activity, a project called “Creation Bus” has provided cultural experience opportunities to the underprivileged, giving hopes and dreams to about 20,000 people in 840 social welfare institutions.

In addition, the company is conducting projects called “social service agency car sharing” and “circle tire sharing project” in order to improve convenience for visitors to social service agencies. Until this year, Hankook Tire has supported a total of 307 cars and replaced the old tires of 9,252 other cars in a bid to express its love for the underprivileged in society.
