SKT Benefits

SK Telecom today announced plans to enhance benefits of foreign customers through new price plans and strengthened customer service.

The number of foreigners living in Korea has reached 1.74 million as of January 1, 2015, growing at an average rate of 14.4% per year, according to the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs.

To better meet the needs of its foreign customers, SK Telecom has newly introduced ‘Band Data Global Pack’ price plans. Band Data Global Pack refers to a combination of Band Data Plans and Voice Plus100. The Band Data Global Pack plans come in eight different tiers – ranging from KRW 32,900 to KRW 103,000, VAT excluded- depending on data allowance and minutes for value-added calls. Value-added calls include international phone calls made via designated mobile apps(e.g. OTO, Ninhao, SK Free Call, etc.); voice calls to nationwide single numbers (e.g. 1566-XXXX, 1588-XXXX, etc.), personal numbers that begin with 050, and premium rate numbers that begin with 060; and video calls, etc.

Band Data Global Pack 32, 39, 45, 50 and 54 come with 300MB, 1.2GB, 2.2GB, 3.5GB and 6.5GB of data, respectively. The company will offer unlimited data for customers who sign up for Band Data Global Pack priced KRW 62,900 or higher. That is, users of Band Data Global Pack 62, 83 and 100 will be given 11GB, 20GB and 35GB of data per month, respectively; and once they exceed their monthly data cap, an additional 2GB of data will be provided every day. Data usage exceeding this limit will be offered at a speed of 3Mpbs.

Also, subscribers of Band Data Global Pack 32, 39, 45 and 50 will be provided with 150 minutes for free value-added calls, while users of Band Data 54, 62, 83 and 103 will be given 400 minutes.

Moreover, all subscribers of the Band Data Global Pack plans will be able to enjoy unlimited voice calls and text messages nationally.

To celebrate the release of the Band Data Global Pack plans, SK Telecom today launched a promotional event that will last until June 17, 2016. Customers who sign up for the new plans during the event period will receive a KRW 1,000 discount from their monthly mobile bill for a period of six months.

Furthermore, SK Telecom is taking measures to enhance convenience of foreign customers through eased subscription requirements and specialized customer service for expatriates.

SK Telecom has revised its subscription terms and conditions to allow a much greater number of foreign residents to subscribe to two mobile lines. Such move is expected to further enrich foreigners’ mobile data experience through the use of a second device including wearables. Also, separate from the number of mobile lines they use, foreign customers can subscribe to services like T Pocket WiFi and T Pet. In addition, the company also eased other conditions to drive up the level of foreign customer satisfaction.

Moreover, it will provide enhanced support for foreign customers by choosing 51 of its T World retail stores to offer specialized assistance. Located in major cities nationwide or popular areas among expatriates, these stores will be thoroughly prepared to serve foreign customers through written materials in English and Chinese as well as foreign language speaking personnel.

“SK Telecom is set to enhance the mobile experience of foreigners in Korea through our specialized mobile product and enhanced customer service,” said Lim Bong-ho, Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing Strategy Office. “We will continue to launch diverse products and services that meet customers’ needs by analyzing their usage patterns.”
