At the Vietnamese State President's Friendship Medal Award Ceremony held at Vietnam Grand Plaza Hanoi Hotel on Dec. 8, CJ Corporation Vice Chairman Lee Chae-wook received the Friendship Medal as the representative of CJ Group, while Chang Bok Sang, President of CJ Group in Vietnam received the Friendship Badge from the minister of culture, ports and tourism in Vietnam. This is the sixth awards received by Korean company and businessmen.

At the awards ceremony, Hoang Tuan Anh, the minister of culture, ports and tourism in Vietnam, said, “The Friendship Medal is a proof that Vietnam highly appreciates the fact that CJ group has contributed a lot to Vietnamese society, beyond simple investments by a foreign company, and encouraged mutual growth. I hope that CJ keeps playing a crucial role in expanding cultural exchange and promoting friendship with Korea, which has the biggest impacts on Vietnam, in the future.”

CJ Group has invested a total of US$300 million (354.6 billion won) in 12 key business sectors since 1998 when it opened its office in Vietnam for the first time. In particular, the group hosted a global conference in Ho Chi Minh in Apr. 2012 with CEOs of its subsidiaries in attendance, and declared its business vision of “Building the 3rd CJ in Vietnam.”

Since then, the group is continuously making aggressive and future-oriented investments focusing on food and cultural sectors. As a result, CJ Group currently leads the bakery, home shopping and theater industries in Vietnam. Recently, the group has also tapped into Vietnamese flour milling market, actively expanding its business areas.
