Power Plant Project in US

The Korea Midland Power Corporation announced on Dec. 8 that it kicked off a photovoltaic power plant construction project in Boulder City, Nevada with the completion of the project scheduled for October next year. The 100-megawatt plant, which can supply electricity to 15,000 households a year, constitutes the first phase of the 200-megawatt solar power generation project of the city.

In this regard, the corporation signed a land lease agreement with the city in 2011 and set up KOMIPO America in the following year for its new and renewable energy business in the United States.

In addition, it concluded power purchase agreements with NV Energy and SunPower this year. Founded in 1985, SunPower is currently operating solar power generation facilities with a capacity of 5.8 GW in total worldwide. NV Energy is the largest electric power company in the state of Nevada.

The Korea Midland Power Corporation is planning to take this opportunity to expand its new and renewable energy business in the United States. At the same time, it is aiming to reduce development risks and enhance business feasibility by means of cooperation with leading partners in the U.S., India, Britain, Southeast Asia, etc.
