Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has reached a strategic cooperation agreement with PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), Indonesia's state-owned aerospace manufacturer, to expand its presence in the Indonesian aerospace and defense (A&D) industry.

The Korean company announced on Dec. 4 that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with PTDI at the meeting room in the Ministry of Defense in Indonesia to work together on the KF-X development and production program.

The Indonesian Air Force purchased 16 T-50i advanced jet trainers and 17 KT-1B basic trainers from KAI and has started operation. With this strategic partnership, KAI has laid the foundation for its expansion into the Indonesian A&D industry.

The partnership deal calls for cooperation in the sectors of unmanned aircraft as well as the defense and commercial aviation industries.

For practical cooperation, the two companies also will form a committee and hold biannual meetings, strengthening the partnership further.
