Key Marketing Tool

Samsung Electronics is planning to apply the Samsung Pay feature to most of its relatively inexpensive smart phones such as the Galaxy A series and provide the service in more countries. The Galaxy A phones are slated to make their debut in China in the middle of this month before it is made available to consumers around the world early next year.

The company announced on Dec. 3 that the feature will be applied to the 2016 versions of the Galaxy A5 and the Galaxy A7. Until now, only Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 users could use the mobile payment service.

The number of Samsung Pay users in Korea has already exceeded one million and the number of daily payments and the cumulative amount of payment have broken the 100,000 and 100 billion won marks, respectively.

It is said that the Samsung Pay played a crucial role in boosting the sales volume of the Galaxy Note 5 in particular and this is why Samsung Electronics opted to present the Samsung Pay as its key marketing tool in smart phone sales promotion. The service is to be made available in China, Singapore, Spain, U.K. and the like next year.
