GM Korea Co., the local unit of U.S. carmaker General Motors Co., sold 51,052 cars in total in November – 11,446 units in the domestic market and 39,606 units in global markets.

Its domestic sales in November shrank 7.3 percent on-year. However, sales of the Trax, a compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), which the company recently released with 1.6-liter diesel engine model and which has the best power, performance and practicability in its segment, and the Orlando multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) increased from the same period a year earlier.

The company sold 1,116 units of the Chevrolet Trax last month, up 33.7 percent year-on-year. The diesel version of the Trax features a 1.6-liter high eco-friendly diesel engine and third-generation 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2016 Chevrolet Orlando is equipped with an environmentally-friendly diesel engine that meets the stringent Euro 6 emission standards and its sales amounted to 1,527 units last month, showing a 3.9 percent increase from the same period a year ago. The Orlando is leading the domestic MPV market with superior driving efficiency and space utilization and best safety.

Marc Comeau, Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing of GM Korea, said, “GM Korea has released new products, such as the Spark, Impala, Trax Diesel, this year, receiving an enthusiastic response from consumers. We are now seeing a new leap of Chevrolet in the Korean market.”

GM Korea exported 39,606 fully assembled units and 48,918 completely knocked down (CKD) products in November. Its cumulative sales during the January-November period totaled 560,534 units – 140,117 units in the domestic market and 420,417 in global markets, except for CKD products. The company also exported 737,807 CKD products during the same period.
