As tablet products are competing for large displays in earnest, Samsung Electronics has released its new 18.4-inch (46.73-cm) Galaxy View tablet that is larger than most laptop screens.
According to industry sources on Nov. 26, the Galaxy View, which was introduced first in the U.S. early this month, is a new strategic product that allows users the function of big screen television suitable for viewing video and picture content, with the portability of existing tablet computers.
A kickstand allows it to be propped upright without needing support and a handle features on the rear of the tablet to make it more portable. With its dual stereo speakers on the side, users can enjoy clear sound in both upright and lying positions. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy View provides the function of Android-based portable touchscreen TV. The slate weighs only 2.65 kg even with the large screen display.
In particular, “media home” is the key feature that differentiates from other mobile devices. Since it has various media apps, users can enjoy a preferred video service simply with a touch.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy View is priced at US$599 (690,000 won) and will be launched in the domestic market soon.
