Samsung Electronics will supply automotive semiconductors, such as its latest leading-edge DRAM chips and embedded multimedia card (eMMC), to German automaker Audi.

At the Audi Progressive SemiConductor Program (PSCP) event held at the Audi headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany, on Nov. 23, the company said it will provide 20-nanometer LPDDR4 DRAM and 10-nanometer class eMMC 5.1 to Audi. The Audi PSCP is designed to make the latest semiconductor technologies available in cars.

President of Samsung Electronics Semiconductor Business, Kim Ki-nam said at the event, “It is an exciting moment to offer our industry leading memory solutions to embrace the rapidly growing automotive industry. Based on this partnership, Samsung will bring various benefits and advanced user experience to the global automotive market while providing high quality memory products with excellent performance and enhanced reliability.”

During the event, Kim agreed with Ricky Hudi, Executive Vice President Electronic Development at Audi, to exchange technologies and ideas that can lead innovation in the auto industry.
