Improvement of Coal Power

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on Nov. 17 that the company was chosen as the preferred bidder for a project ordered by Turkey’s ERG to improve its coal power capacity.

The company will offer engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to improve performance of the Afsin-Elbistan A coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,345 MW. It will be in charge of the replacement and maintenance of overall plant installations, such as boilers, turbines and eco-friendly facilities.

The specific terms of the contract, including down payment, are not decided yet, but the company is expected to win the project by the end of this year. The amount of the order is estimated at some 1 trillion won (US$852.88 million).

Considering the fact that the domestic power generation market is taking a favorable turn and the company is highly likely to win two to three large-scale projects in the main markets, such as Vietnam and India, Doosan Heavy Industries believes that the total amount of orders received this year will reach some 10 trillion won (US$8.53 billion), exceeding its target of 9.3 trillion won (US$7.93 billion).
