Coway’s innovative technology, which combines its core competitiveness “care,” Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT), is attracting attention from the global and domestic markets.

The main product is an air purifier. Until now, consumers have been unable to find out how clean indoor air has become after turning on an air purifier. However, Coway not only allows consumers to check the indoor air quality in real time by integrating IoT tech, but also provides customized services based on Big Data. With such product power, Coway received eight CES Innovation Awards before CES 2016, which will take place in Las Vegas, the U.S., early next year.

According to industry sources on Nov. 16, Coway Dual Power Air Purifier IoCare, which won the CES Innovation Awards, is a product developed with the analysis of 3 billion pieces of indoor air quality data collected from 1,300 households in Korea.

Three billion pieces of Big Data related to air quality were analyzed and divided into 16 types of Korean household air quality based on typical characteristics. The product provides systematic and tailored air care services by indoor air quality types. With the CES 2016 Innovation Awards, Coway has become recognized for its core Big Data analysis ability as well as its product power.

Coway Dual Power Air Purifier IoCare checks the levels of fine dust, ultra-fine particles, carbon dioxide and gas, which are the major factors that affect the air quality of households, in real time. It then offers customized solutions, such as ventilation and air cleaning, via smartphones in accordance with real time household air quality. Instead of changing filters all at once, the product also provides personalized filters, including yellow dust filters, old house filters and new house filters, according to pollutant types and concentration levels, which vary with the lifestyles of households.

Moreover, it allows consumers to check real time air quality constantly via their smartphones, and offers services accordingly. Then, it enables them to check the air quality data after air cleaning.

In addition, consumers can operate the product anytime and anywhere in accordance with the air quality data and tailed solutions, which are sent via smartphone even when they are out, and set a reservation system when necessary.
