Samsung Electronics’ models introduce its virtual TV channel service called “TV PLUS” at the Samsung Galaxy Zone in COEX, Seoul, on Nov. 11.

Samsung Electronics’ TV PLUS, the world’s first virtual TV channel service, has become a sensation in the domestic market in just a month after its launch. It is a virtual TV channel service for Korean consumers who are not used to video on demand (VOD) services by using applications on smart televisions. With the service, they can watch video by flipping channels just like a TV.

According to Samsung Electronics on Nov. 11, one in five of Samsung’s smart TV users used TV PLUS since the service began in October, receiving a good response from consumers. Also, its reuse rate exceeded 80 percent.

The service enables users to choose any of 33 virtual channels in those from number 500 channel to number 600 using a remote control without the need to download applications or sign up for the service. Samsung 2015 smart television users can access the service by connecting to their smart televisions with Wi-Fi or networking cables. Viewers can watch CJ E&M and EBS content, ranging from entertainment to dramas and education, for 24 hours at no charge.

TV PLUS allows users to select and watch video content when they choose to, just like VOD service. Samsung Electronics Vice President Lee Won-jin said, “The TV PLUS is the must-have service for consumers who want to watch more of their favorite TV programs. It is becoming popular, since users can easily watch their favorite programs using remote controls, just like conventional TV channels.”
