Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors sold a total of 110,049 cars in the United States last month to record a growth of 16.1 percent from a year ago. The sales volume is the Hyundai Motor Group’s new October high in the U.S. market.

According to the group’s announcement on Nov. 4, Hyundai Motor Company’s and Kia Motors’ sales volumes in the U.S. market increased 19.8 percent and 12.0 percent from a year earlier to 60,005 and 50,044, respectively. Both brands set new October records this time.

The Hyundai Motor Group posted a sales growth rate of 16.1 percent last month, when the entire market showed a growth of 13.6 percent. The group accounted for 7.6 percent of the U.S. car market to rank sixth there. Last month, GM sold 262,993 cars in the market, followed by Ford (213,105), Toyota (204,045), Chrysler (196,888), Honda (131,651) and Nissan (116,047).

During the first 10 months of this year, the Hyundai Motor Group sold 1,164,219 vehicles in the United States, which is divided into 638,195 on the part of Hyundai Motor Company and 526,024 for Kia Motors. The combined sales volume increased by 6.1 percent year-on-year, and the group’s market share for the 10-month period is 8.0 percent.
