Korean Air held an agreement and opening ceremony for a Korean Air flagship store at the Alibaba Group headquarters in Hangzhou on Oct. 28, with Chae Jong-hoon, marketing manager at Korean Air China Regional Headquarters, and Jeong Weibin, vice president of the Alibaba Group’s Air Travel Division, in attendance.

An official from Korean Air said, “Korean Air opened the flagship store, which will be directly managed by the company, at Alibaba for the first time among foreign airlines serving China. Accordingly, we have now secured the leading position in the online travel commerce sector in China.”

An online flagship store is an online sales channel that allows consumers to book, purchase and issue airline tickets safely, just like an airline homepage.

An official from Korean Air said, “With the opening of the flagship store, we have now established the image as an airline that responds to the trend of the Chinese online market, which is rapidly growing every year, and adopts advanced IT airline services.

Korean Air plans to continuously develop diverse products and online services in the future in order to offer more benefits to consumers who purchase airline tickets and travel packages through the flagship store.
