Lim Ji-hoon, the new CEO of Kakao, announced a plan to create the Mobile 2.0 Era based on the key word of ‘On-Demand’ in his first public appearance on Oct. 27. On-Demand is the concept of a service that offers what users want at any time.

“We will concentrate on On-Demand, which offers value by connecting people and services based on mobile systems,” CEO Lim said in his first meeting with reporters as the CEO of Kakao in the Kakao Headquarters on Jeju Island on the day.

“So far, the mobile service has stayed in its early stage, where PC functions are transferred to mobile devices,” Lim said. “A true mobile era is now beginning, and will enable users to conduct all practical economic activities with smartphones,” Lim said. “We will build an On-Demand environment which will create opportunities of a new dimension.”

Lim emphasized that Kakao will create a world where users can enjoy customized services through mobile systems by connecting all real economic items such as content, search, games, ads, and finance, not to mention O2O services such as Kakao Taxi via mobile systems. In the On-Demand era, content service will be directly provided to users, and a search service will not simply show links to websites but directly give users what they ultimately want, Lim explained.
