The Korea Energy Agency (President Byun Jong-rip) is co-hosting an energy efficiency reinforcement workshop with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul from Oct. 19 to 21.

The event is being held for five countries – Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Iran – in a bid to share Korea’s policy experiences and cases in the building energy efficiency, energy efficiency rating and load management sectors with energy efficiency division officials from the countries.

The workshop will introduce each country’s energy efficiency policies and programs, and to discuss the ways to use the developing countries’ business models through presentations and discussions by specific topic. Also, it will include onsite visits to buildings of energy efficiency rating test agencies and with the building energy management system (BEMS) in order to operate the energy efficiency system.

The Korea Energy Agency is working on various cooperation projects with the ADB, such as joint projects, workshops, and seminars for the energy efficiency improvement and new renewable energy for developing countries. The agency recently joined hands with ADB to carry out the feasibly studies on energy management and the use of the BEMS system for government buildings in Sri Lanka, and is preparing follow-up pilot projects. This year, both organizations worked together on the pilot project to use the new renewable energy hybrid system in the island region of the Philippines, and co-hosted the “2015 Asia Clean Energy Forum.”
