Drone Equipment

Qualcomm has unveiled semiconductors that can make lower-power and high-performance drones using its strength as an application processor maker.

Qualcomm revealed the Snapdragon Flight, a development platform for drones, during this year's Korea Electronics Show at the Korea International Exhibition Center on Oct. 14. The chipmaker has expanded its reach to semiconductors for drones using low-power telecommunications technology in its AP.

The Snapdragon Flight features the Snapdragon 801, a mobile chipset. Using a digital signal processor (DSP), flight control is possible in real time. It supports WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

The Snapdragon Flight also has a camera that can take a 1080p video at 60 frames per second and is the smallest camera available for drones. The size of the camera is important for drone flight.

Anyone that uses a smartphone with a Snapdragon processor can make a robot, since it provides support to make a robot using a 3D printer.
