The Samsung Global Volunteer Month for this year, which marked its 21st anniversary, kicked off on Oct. 1 and will continue for three weeks. More than 170,000 staff and executive members of the Samsung Group will join the event in 38 countries around the world.

This year’s activities are roughly divided into volunteer work for farming and fishing villages, contribution of talent by workers, and global volunteer activities. For example, approximately 13,000 employees of Samsung China are providing labor for local farmers and fishermen and cleaning up the environment of the regions where their places of business are located. In addition, some of them go on a picnic to the Beijing Zoo on Oct. 18 with around 220 Samsung Hope Elementary School students to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Samsung Hope Elementary School Project for rebuilding old and decrepit schools in China.

In the meantime, 4,500 or so employees at Samsung Electronics America and Samsung Electronics Canada are planning to visit 70 welfare organizations in New Jersey, Texas, and Ontario on Oct. 16 to provide mentoring for youth on the streets, clean local streams, and distribute food. A total of 120 employees at the Singapore offices of Samsung C&T, Samsung Heavy Industries, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance made a visit to child protection facilities on Oct. 9 to tidy up the places and draw wall paintings.
