Kumho Petrochemical announced on Oct. 5 that the company’s 2104 Annual Report won Grand Prize in the Best of Korea category at the Annual Report Competition Awards in the U.S. Under the theme of “Aiming Higher,” The 2014 report focuses on its leadership in synthetic rubber, its major business area, and carbon nanotubes, a new material.

The Best of Korea category gives the prize to Korea’s best annual report after general evaluations in terms of creativity, clarity, effectiveness, and excellence. The ARC Awards selects the best annual report by nations such as the United States, Germany, Japan in addition to evaluations of content such as design. Previous “Best of Korea” winners from Korea include NHN, SK Telecom, and Lotte Shopping.

“70 percent of our sales come from abroad. So, we are exerting ourselves to offer clear and accurate corporate information through our annual reports,” said a spokesperson at Kumho Petrochemical. “The more market uncertainties expand, the harder we will work on communicating with customers and investors around the world.”

The U.S.-based ARC Awards started in 1987 as a contest of annual reports to promote corporate communication. The ARC Awards is called one of the two most important international annual reports, the other being the Vision Awards. Every year, over 2,000 annual reports from 35 countries compete at this event. This year, the prize-giving ceremony will be held at the Trump Soho Hotel in New York City.
