On Oct. 1, LG Electronics unveiled the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, the first Android Wear smart watch that supports LTE. The company is planning to introduce it to the global market within the year.

The new smart watch can be used by connecting to a smartphone via Bluetooth, and LTE voice calls and message transmissions are also possible without a smartphone. This product is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and iOS 8.2 and above.

Three buttons on the round metal body and the side of the wearable device enable people to intuitively search for contacts, select apps, and LG health apps. Since the device has a display with a pixel density of 348 ppi, it can produce much sharper images than any other smart watch, and express things on the screen in a more vivid manner. To support LTE, the new model has a 570mAh battery.

To increase durability, scratch and impact-resistant Gorilla Glass 3 was used for the touch screen, and 316 L stainless steel for the body of the device. The LTE-enabled smart watch has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, which means that that it can endure up to 30 minutes under 1 meter of water.
